Sub-Saharan Africa in the age of digital publishing

We wanted to share with you a really fantastic seminar we sat in as part of this year’s London Book Fair.

“Sub-Saharan Africa in the Age of Digital Publishing” was a seminar sponsored by Book Aid International which looked at the effect of Digital Publishing within Africa.

One of the areas of concern is that with many countries, and consequently Publishers, going down a more digital route, the likelihood of less printed books making their way to Africa becomes greater. This could potentially be of great concern to Africa and one train of thought is that the knowledge gap could actually widen as a result of fewer texts making their way to learners.

The seminar had a panel of experts who gave us their thoughts on digital publishing and how different countries in Africa are either addressing the new digital age with positivity or with trepidation.

If you would like to find out more about what was said in the seminar please download our notes from the session, Sub-Saharan Africa in the Age of Digital Pub – LBF notes or take a look at the seminar video which can be found on Book Aid’s website.

Please note that this transcript is not an official document from Book Aid.
