A brief history of typography

As a design agency that solely works in the publishing industry Typography is something that emc design takes pretty seriously. We love typefaces, their history, their transformations and most importantly their significance to design. So we were thrilled to have been sent this gorgeous little video by Ben Barrett-Forrest which briefly explains the history of typography. So if you don’t know the difference between serif and sans serif this short animation is for you! Or if you’re a typeface geek like us you’ll enjoy it anyway…

Dale’s, one of our designers, favourite typeface is Dinn. He used to like Lubalin Graph but it’s becoming his new Comic Sans!

Duncan’s favourite typeface is Mrs Eaves by Zuzana Licko (http://www.emigre.com/EFfeature.php?di=109). He especially likes the italic ligatures but still needs to find an excuse for us to buy it here!

    Kathryn’s favourite is Bodoni!
